Seal Beach : 2-Way Races Shape Up for 3 City Council Seats
Contests are assured for all three of the five City Council seats up for election in March. Two incumbents will be challenged.
Councilman Victor Grgas and Mayor Joyce Risner will seek another term. Councilman Oscar Brownell has decided not to run for reelection.
Challenging Grgas in District 1 will be Charles Antos, an Orange County planner who works in the Environmental Management Agency. Grgas is the director of development planning for the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission.
In District 3, Marjorie Ary, listed as a homemaker, will run against Risner, who is a field representative for the U.S. Department of Commerce and a representative to the California League of Cities.
In District 5, Joe Hunt, a retired city planning commissioner, and Robert Jaeschke will be vying for the seat to be vacated by Brownell. Both candidates are retired and live in Seal Beach Leisure World.
Filings for the March 25 election closed last week.
