The Kentucky state treasurer and six co-defendants were found innocent today of all theft charges relating to her 1983 political campaign.

Frances Jones Mills, 64, leaped to her feet and raised her hands in victory as Franklin County Circuit Judge William Graham announced the unanimous verdict of acquittal after a nine-week trial. The charges stemmed from an investigation into allegations of abuse of state personnel during her campaign for treasurer. Mills, a Democrat, was secretary of state at the time.
