Nuclear Plant in N.H. Gets OK

The state Supreme Court today gave the green light for the main owner of the Seabrook nuclear plant to complete the long entangled project.

In a 3-2 decision, the court upheld Public Utilities Commission authorization for a major bond sale intended to raise Seabrook construction cash for Public Service Co. of New Hampshire. The decision ends a year-long legal tug-of-war over the financing plan, and it apparently ends a much longer struggle in state courts and the PUC over construction of the facility. The project was begun in 1976 and originally was scheduled to be producing power by 1979.
