Canal Exercises Staged

MIGUEL DE LA BORDA, Panama —
U.S. and Panamanian soldiers staged joint maneuvers Friday designed to prepare for defense of the Panama Canal against any attack by rebels. The maneuvers center on a mock attack on the canal by a guerrilla army from the fictional island of “El Planoa,” located “somewhere in the Caribbean.”
