Tiffany Chin Leads San Diego Skaters

Defending ladies’ singles champion Tiffany Chin heads the list of 11 athletes from the San Diego and La Jolla figure skating clubs who will compete in the 1986 U.S. Championships, which start Sunday in Uniondale, N.Y.

Chin, who lives in Toluca Lake and trains in Denver, began her skating career in San Diego and still represents the San Diego Figure Skating Club. She won the bronze medal at the World Championships last year.

Also representing the San Diego club is Erik Larson, who won the World Junior and U.S. silver medal for junior men last year. He is again competing in the junior men’s division.

The other national competitors from the San Diego club are: Rory Flack, junior ladies’ singles; Katy Keeley and Joey Mero, senior pairs; Jill Heiser, senior dance; Ashley Stevenson, junior pairs, and K.C. Watkins, junior dance.

Representing the La Jolla club are April Malakoff and Bob Pellaton, senior pairs, and Katrina Stader, junior dance.
