A sailor has been convicted by court-martial in the fatal stabbing of a superior officer, and he is expected to testify during the penalty phase of his trial this week. Petty Officer 3rd Class Mitchell Garraway, 21, of Suitland, Md., could become the first Navy serviceman executed since before the Civil War. An eight-member jury in Newport, R.I., found Garraway guilty of premeditated murder in the stabbing death of Lt. James Sterner, 35, of Woodbridge, N.J., aboard the Navy frigate Miller in the western Atlantic.
