La Palma : Senior Club to Offer Free Screening for Glaucoma

The La Palma Seniors Club, in cooperation with the National Society to Prevent Blindness, is offering a free glaucoma screening Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the La Palma Community Center, 7821 Walker St.

Glaucoma, a progressive eye disease that causes blindness with few or no symptoms, has been considered by experts to be the nation’s leading cause of blindness. Early diagnosis and treatment can control glaucoma, but any loss of sight before treatment cannot be regained.

The test is simple, painless and takes only a few seconds to complete. Further information can be obtained by calling the Recreation Department at (714) 522-6740.
