France’s Stephan Caron won his second event, the 100-meter freestyle, on the final day of an international swimming meet at Boulogne-Billancourt, France, a suburb of Paris.
Caron won the event in 49.07 seconds, short of the world best of 48.52, set by Dave McCagg of the United States in a 25-meter pool. Earlier this year, Caron swam the distance in 48.89.
Caron won the 200-meter freestyle Friday in the second fastest time ever, 1:46.23.
East Bloc swimmers dominated the meet, taking 19 of 24 individual events. Soviet swimmers won seven events and East German swimmers five.
