Singer paid $174 million in cash for the Belmont, Calif.-based producer of electronic warfare systems. The sale has been approved by the boards of both firms and should be completed by the end of the first quarter of 1986, the companies said in a joint statement. The sale is part of Textron’s effort to reduce the $1-billion debt that it incurred last year with the acquisition of Avco Corp., said B. F. Dolan, Textron president and chief executive. The purchase of Dalmo Victor will not significantly alter Singer’s 1986 earnings outlook, the company said, adding that it still expects a satisfactory increase in after-tax income.
