Health Care Property Investors Inc., a fledgling, but cash-rich Costa Mesa real estate trust, said Monday it purchased a pair of nursing homes in Ohio for $7.7 million. The company, which began last April with an offering of $96 million in stock, said it will in turn lease the two facilities back to their former owner, Arbor Health Care Co. of Lima, Ohio. The purchase brings Health Care Property’s portfolio to 44 properties, totaling $170 million, company officials said. In addition to rest homes, the company also owns and leases a psychiatric hospital, two acute care hospitals and a rehabilitation hospital.
