National Guard troops blocked off a road leading to the Geo. A. Hormel & Co. plant in Austin, Minn., to allow workers to get past pickets as the company said it exceeded its goal of hiring 750 people to replace striking meatpackers. And state Agriculture Department agents fanned out to grocery stores in the Minneapolis area to investigate reports of sabotage to Hormel products, a department official said. Leaders of the 5 1/2-month walkout, were scheduled to appear in court today on contempt charges.
