‘Humans in Space’
I am a high school sophomore and along with students all across the nation I too watched in disbelief and shock as the Challenger exploded into a fiery cloud above Cape Canaveral. While the Teacher in Space program brought awareness to more children than in previous space flights it is important to remember that all seven members of the crew were teachers, as were all of their colleagues on preceding missions. The seven all had a dream and wanted to share it. They gave their lives in a quest in hopes they could have taught us more about the “last frontier.”
To the families of those who died, be proud for only with bravery such as their loved ones showed can the outer reaches of the universe continue to be pioneered for generations to come.
