Orange League : Walker Scores 46 and Brea Rolls, 88-50

Just two days after setting the school career-scoring record, Kevin Walker of Brea-Olinda High School established another school record by scoring 46 points in the Wildcats’ 88-50 Orange League victory over Anaheim Friday night at Brea.

Walker, a 6-foot 10-inch senior who will be attending UCLA, made 20 of his 30 field-goal attempts and added 16 rebounds as the Wildcats (8-0, 20-4) remained unbeaten in league play. Walker broke Roger Anderson’s record of 45 points set in 1982 and also established a record for most field goals in a game.

Walker scored 14 points in the first quarter as the Wildcats jumped out to a 24-4 lead. Walker scored 12 in the second quarter, 12 in the third and 8 in the fourth before leaving the game with 3:58 to play.

Ernest Johnston led the Colonists (3-5, 11-10) with 22 points, and Tony Robuffo added 15.

Western 55, Magnolia 45--Chuck Powell scored 14 points and Troy Joseph added 12 to lead the Pioneers (3-5, 8-12). Mike Goff was the leading scorer for Magnolia (3-5, 8-12) with 13 points.

Valencia 50, Savanna 47--Savanna cut Valencia’s lead to two points with 30 seconds remaining, but the Tigers’ Dennis Burbank and Dave LaRue each sank free throws in the closing seconds to give the Tigers the win. LaRue led Valencia (4-4, 12-8) with 15 points, and Burbank added 13. Brad Veale led the Rebels (3-5, 5-13) with 15 points, and Mike Campbell added 12.
