A new library has been dedicated to slain drug enforcement agent Enrique Camarena in the border town of Calexico. Dedication of the $1.2-million memorial library in Camarena’s hometown coincided with the first anniversary of the agent’s abduction in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Feb. 7, 1985. Camarena was kidnaped near the U.S. Consulate, presumably by drug traffickers angered by his investigations into their operations. Camarena’s battered body and that of his Mexican pilot were found a month later on a ranch outside Guadalajara.
