Newporter Resort Starts Expansion, Renovation

Construction has started on a $15-million renovation and expansion of The Newporter Resort in Newport Beach that includes a two-story addition, increasing the number of rooms from 311 to 415.

The renovation will also triple the size of lobby of the hotel, built in 1962 as three separate projects, according to Jim Manion, managing director. The existing 311 rooms will be redecorated in a “gentle blend of contemporary themes,” he added, with a pale-peach, lavender and green color scheme used throughout the hotel.

The first phase, including the lobby, consolidation of three restaurants into one large one, a new entertainment lounge and redecoration of quest rooms, is scheduled to be completed in March. The second phase and the 104-room addition are scheduled for completion in June.

Architect for the renovation is the Landau Partnership, Santa Monica. The interior designer ins Swimmer Cole Martinez Curtis, Los Angeles.
