Rudi Koopmans of the Netherlands, former European boxing champion, has been in custody in Amsterdam for six days on suspicion of dealing in drugs.
Koopmans, 38, who quit the ring in 1984 after holding the European light-heavyweight title for five years, will appear in court later in the week.
He was arrested in Amsterdam last Wednesday at the request of police in his home city of The Hague. A police spokesman said Koopmans was suspected of trading in hashish.
