‘Here’s to the Ladies’

Share

Rip Van Kilpatrick is still dreaming. He thinks the women’s movement is over and things are the way they were before he fell asleep.

Wake up, Mr. K!

While you were snoozing, way back in 1970 the first woman Lutheran minister was ordained, the first women generals were commissioned and the National Press Club, right there in Washington, admitted women to their ranks. And these were only some of the very first--firsts that happened in the at least 16 years you’ve been trying to keep your eyes closed.

Too bad, Mr. Kilpatrick, it isn’t going to go away; the women’s movement is here to stay. Best grope your way to the kitchen and make yourself a pot of strong coffee!
