HITTIN ON ‘HITCHER’

Share

The making of a movie the likes of “The Hitcher” conjures up many questions (“ ‘The Hitcher’ Gets a Ride to Hollywood,” by Deborah Caulfield, Feb. 23).

I’ll ask just a few.

How does a writer--or anybody--even think of such scenes as a woman ripped in two, an eye in a hamburger, et al? What does it say about our society that such an unconscionable film is deemed to have a market?

And, finally, why does Calendar stoop to devoting the major portion of its editorial pages to this revolting, depressing, shameful film?
