Dornan’s ‘Little Jew’ Remark
The uproar over Dornan’s “little Jew” remark when expressing his feelings about Soviet commentator Vladimir Posner has exposed a deeper and more grievous issue; how an elected representative behaves when under stress.
Dornan’s “shoot-from-the-hip” style has been a source of shame for some time. It is an indication of a man’s basic character that, in anger, he “slips” and utters an ethnic slur. One would wonder if Dornan might also expose more of his derogatory lexicon the next time he is angry or outraged.
I believe that Dornan’s apology is sincere; that he really did not “mean” to say what he said. I do not absolve him of responsibility for being so objectionable while objecting.
