The Ultimate

No, no, no to W.E. Houston (Letters, Feb. 20), who said he saw the ultimate expression of living in Los Angeles in a window greenhouse full of plastic plants.

I saw the Ultimate: the rear bumper of a compact car was filled in with dirt, from which small plants, moss and perhaps a few weeds were growing (quite well, too). That's flora in the fast lane, L.A. 1986. MAUREEN O'HAREN Long Beach
