The Army began delivering bottled water to 11 schools in Adams County, Colo., that lie within a water district where wells are tainted with a toxic chemical that could come from the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. State health officials recently advised all 30,000 consumers in the South Adams County Water District to drink only boiled or bottled water as tests continue because traces of trichloroethylene were found in the district’s wells. TCE, as it is known, has been identified in a motor-pool pit at the nearby federal arsenal.
