A fifth Commodore Circle landlord is expected to face criminal prosecution for failing to meet last Monday’s deadline to clean up more than 90 housing code violations.

After touring 7632, 7641 and 7651 Commodore Circle Tuesday, city housing inspector Susan Tully said she will take action against Patricia and Edward Vergara of Long Beach for violations that included unsanitary kitchens, sinks and bathrooms, roach infestations and hazardous wiring.

“Little, if any, work has been done in their three buildings,” said Tully, adding that neither the owners nor their representative, Bruce Bender, were on hand to go through the 12 apartment units.

Tully said she gave Richard Ferrante, owner of 7721 Commodore Circle and president of Consolidated Savings, a one-week extension to finish up cosmetic repairs.

“Ferrante has done an excellent job,” she said. “He has put in new balconies, new doors and new heaters.”
