Striking meatpackers voted to defy their parent union’s order to end a 7-month-old strike against the Geo. A. Hormel & Co. plant in Austin, Minn. About 900 strikers discussed the directive of the United Food and Commercial Workers for more than two hours, then approved a resolution proposed by the executive committee of Local P-9. The resolution rejected the parent union’s order to end picketing and to stop the campaign to boycott Hormel products.
