Garden Grove : Volunteers Sought for Family Violence Hotline

The Police Department’s Family Violence Hotline, a group that helps victims of domestic violence and child abuse, has issued an appeal for volunteers.

The hot line is staffed entirely by volunteers, who are given a six-week training program in the techniques of hot-line work, the facts of child abuse and family violence and the resources available to help victims. When the Police Department receives calls seeking such help, the calls are transferred to volunteers’ homes.

Training will begin at the police station Wednesday. Graduates of the course will receive a certificate of completion and may begin work in May. Those interested in joining should call (714) 854-7500 and ask for Barbara Yeager during the day or call Lisa Pippin at (714) 750-7420 evenings.
