Hormel officials in Austin, Minn., have agreed to a request by striking meatpackers to resume negotiations, but they might not come until next week, a company official said. Hormel officials have said they will ask union Local P-9 to set a date for the talks, the first since Feb. 11. About 1,500 members of Local P-9 went on strike Aug. 17. Workers at other Hormel plants have accepted a new contract with a base wage of $10 an hour.
