U.S. Would Welcome Stalin’s Daughter--She’s Still a Citizen
Josef Stalin’s daughter Svetlana Alliluyeva is still an American citizen and would be welcome in the United States, the State Department said today.
Spokesman Charles Redman acknowledged that U.S. officials in Moscow have been in contact with Alliluyeva, who apparently wants to return to the West.
Redman told reporters that Alliluyeva did not lose her citizenship in 1984 when she returned to the Soviet Union with her American daughter, Olga, and denounced the United States. “All American citizens are welcome in the United States,” Redman said.
