Dane Picks Right Day to Drive Home a Point
Danish Prime Minister Poul Schlueter startled reporters Tuesday by announcing that he is going to ask the British to start driving on the right.
Schlueter said after the weekly Cabinet meeting: “The government has decided on a serious approach to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to get the British to start driving on the right immediately. This will aid European fellowship.”
Asked if be believes the new driving rules should also apply to former British colonies in the Commonwealth, Schlueter said this would be desirable.
But before reporters got carried away, the prime minister reminded them that Tuesday was April Fools’ Day.
