The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit, seeks to force Fruehauf Corp. to turn over its shareholders list for use in a battle to control the truck-trailer manufacturer. The New York investor filed the lawsuit after Fruehauf directors turned down his offer of $41 for each share of the company’s common stock. He vowed before directors met to mount a proxy fight for control of the company at its annual meeting May 1, soliciting shareholder votes for candidates for the board pledged to facilitate his takeover. Edelman’s investor group holds a 6.1% stake in Fruehauf.
