Legacy Development Co. has begun construction of two industrial buildings valued at $5.6 million in San Sevaine Industrial Park, western Riverside County, according to Timothy L. Strader, chairman of the board of the Newport Beach firm.

The buildings are at San Sevaine Way and Wabash Drive and will occupy 4.7-acre and 4.9-acre sites. One will total 88,600 square feet and the other, 90,750 square feet.

Suitable for either manufacturing or warehousing, each building will have 2,500 square feet of finished office space. There will be parking space for nearly 400 cars.

This is the second industrial project for Legacy, founded in 1985. The other project was the corporate headquarters for Chipper’s Nut Co. in Chino

“We’re taking a somewhat unusual stance,” Strader said “We’re firmly planting our feet in two development fields, commercial-industrial and multifamily rental, since their business cycles tend to offset each other.”

Prior to establishing Legacy, Strader was executive vice president of the Koll Co., one of California’s largest commercial developers. He is chairman of CommerceBank and president of the Orange County Performing Arts Council.

The project team for San Sevaine Industrial Park includes architect, DeRevere Partnership, Newport Beach; engineer, Calvin E. Woolsey, Irvine; landscape architect, Closson & Closson, Orange, and general contractor, J.A. Stewart Construction Co., Westminster.
