Experts have urged China to adopt daylight saving time, which they say would save up to 2 billion kilowatt hours of energy a year, the New China News Agency said Friday.

Scholars at the Peking Energy Foundation recommended that China advance its clocks one hour from early April to mid-September.

All China runs on standard Peking time except the far west region of Xinjiang, which switched in February to two hours behind.
