Building-Limits Initiative
With delight, I read about Zev Yaroslavsky and Marvin Braude’s proposed initiative to limit commercial development in Los Angeles.
Wealthy developers, who stand to reap enormous profits through continued construction, need to be kept in check. The crowds, traffic jams and high noise levels have already become nearly unbearable. Those who argue otherwise--especially in the face of Los Angeles’ horrific “building mania”--are either profiting from the new construction, or are not thinking clearly.
Council members Joel Wachs, Michael Woo and Joy Picus, who came out in support of the Yaroslavsky-Braude initiative, are also to be applauded.
