Congress and the NRA

The truly tragic thing about the National Rifle Assn.’s victory over those who represent “law and order” is that it shows, once again, the utter venality of the majority of our congressmen and senators.

While a very few of these men and women may really believe in the NRA’s slogans, the majority caved in because of the gun lobby’s heavy campaign contributions. To think that these are the people who make our laws makes me shudder.

Besides the few members of Congress who are themselves gun nuts, only one other category--or should be--immune to the NRA’s bribes: those who are practically without opposition in their district, such as Carlos Moorhead in Glendale. They can afford the luxury to be honest.
