Former Councilman Steve A. Grasha was ordered Friday to stand trial on four counts of perjury and one count of filing false nomination papers.

After a two-day public hearing, Orange County Municipal Judge Daniel T. Brice scheduled Grasha’s arraignment for April 28 in Superior Court.

Grasha, 27, was one of 14 candidates for the Buena Park City Council in last November’s election. The charges were filed less than a week before the election, in which Grasha placed seventh.

He is charged with lying about his place of residence on his voter registration and documents he filed to run for the council.

Grasha, who has maintained his innocence, at the time of the charges had accused former Mayor James T. Jarrell, whose son placed last in the election, of harassment. The younger Jarrell had asked the district attorney’s office to investigate Grasha’s election papers.

Grasha was not available for comment. Hector M. Chaparro, his attorney, would not comment on the case.
