Couple Must Move Home or Enlarge It, Judge Decrees

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. —
A couple must either move their new $81,000 house or build an addition because it is too small for the neighborhood, a judge has ruled.
Judge Robert F. Fischer ruled Thursday that Lawrence and Sharon Sowada’s house violates the covenant of the Triadelphia Farms II subdivision, about 20 miles west of Baltimore.
The covenant calls for 1,500 square feet of living space on the first floor of a one-story house. A county building permit lists the size of the Sowada’s first floor as 989 square feet.
