The Rev. Benjamin Weir, who recently was released after being held hostage in Lebanon, and family members of other hostages will participate in a tree-planting ceremony in Liberty Park next Friday.

The ceremony will spotlight efforts to free the remaining hostages and also will cap the city’s activities as part of Keep America Beautiful Week. The ceremony is open to the public and will begin at 10 a.m. at the park, located on Monroe Street north of Westminster Avenue.

Representatives of the Angels, Dodgers, Rams and Radiers are scheduled to attend, as well as Ram cheerleaders, city officials and the Marine Corps Color Guard from El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.
