Man Asks Rabbi’s Help, Then Kills Him
A rabbi returning from evening prayer services was shot six times by a motorist who stopped to ask for directions, officials and witnesses said.
Rabbi Neil Rosenbloom, 24, of Toronto died Friday while undergoing surgery for two gunshot wounds to the chest, one in the stomach and three in his legs, a hospital spokesman said.
Rosenbloom, dressed in Orthodox Jewish clothing, was walking to the home of his wife’s parents when two white males in a sports car pulled up next to him, police Lt. Leo O’Neill said.
The passenger opened fire and the car sped off, police said.
Before lapsing into unconsciousness, Rosenbloom told a man who had heard the shots that the men had asked for directions.
