Baker International Corp. said that as a result of $340 million in write-downs, it had a net loss of $254.9 million for the fiscal second quarter ended March 31. The loss compares to net earnings of $21 million a year earlier. Revenue during the quarter fell 9%. For the fiscal first half, the Orange-based maker of oil field equipment had a net loss of $238.5 million, compared to net earnings of $38.7 million a year earlier.
