Belgian State Workers Plan Strike on May 6
From Reuters
BRUSSELS —
State employees in Belgium will hold a 24-hour strike on May 6 in protest against government economic austerity proposals, union officials said Sunday.
They said the stoppage will hit public transport, telecommunications and the state television network.
The unions are opposed to government proposals to sell off successful state industries such as telecommunications and to consolidate others. The plan is designed to save $4.3 billion a year in public spending.
