R.H. Estates Drops Yard Depth Limit

Share

The Rolling Hills Estates City Council has decided to delete a 50-foot limitation on front yard depth in its continued review of residential regulations. The building code, which has been under review for several months, formerly prevented a property owner from having a front yard deeper than 50 feet. Council members agreed that large front yards should be encouraged to increase open space.

In related matters, the council said it wants to impose a two-foot limit on the projection of residential architectural features such as eaves, cornices and sills. Former restrictions were dependent on yard size.

The new regulations are expected to get formal approval by the council in an ordinance on May 13 and will take effect about a month later.
