Big Business

I note with more than a little interest that the Revs. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are having financial problems (Times, April 4), “Drop in Donations Spurs Cuts, Layoffs at Christian TV Network.”

Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network anticipates problems with its $230-million budget this year and is laying off 41 employees and planning on selling a couple of TV stations.

Falwell is dismissing 225 employees of what used to be the Moral Majority.

Both of the reverends are discontinuing their 800 numbers--apparently due to a reduction of pledges coming in by phone.

My suggestion is that the Rev. Jimmy Swaggart try for a hostile takeover of both, and sell off the assets. If they are that big business they might as well act like big business.
