The stuff of which Keyes wrote is appalling; that she wrote it, amazing.

It would have been so easy to lie and pretend that she was horrified by what she saw. Instead, she was horrified by her own participation, and woman enough to say so.

It is the subtlety of acceptance that allows prejudice and discrimination to flourish--only our shame can help to stop it.

Keyes should be thanked for her honesty.
