Singapore May Trash Garbage Throwers

People who throw rubbish from their apartments would lose their homes if a Singapore bill becomes law.

The bill was introduced Monday in Parliament after public outrage over pedestrians being injured by rubbish thrown from high-rise public housing blocks.

A pregnant woman died in 1984 after being struck by a bicycle thrown from a flat.

Under the bill, owners and residents of state-subsidized flats, which make up 80% of Singapore’s housing, will be evicted if found guilty of either tossing garbage from their apartments or harboring illegal immigrants.
