Police Defuse 400 Pounds of Explosives

BEIRUT —
Police today defused more than 400 pounds of explosives packed in the fuel tank of a car minutes after a detonating device failed and the explosives failed to go off.
A police report said the TNT in the car in a residential area of East Beirut was attached to an anti-tank land mine and a string of 32 detonators. One of the detonators went off but the others failed.
