MARXIST THEORIZING

Share

Last week we made the mistake of soliciting English explanations of the Marxist theory of art. We even offered a free trip to Chernobyl. Though we received a bunch of responses, much mystery remains. We appreciate the help, but we’re kind of sorry we asked.

The Marxist theory of art, in English, is as follows:

In the present state of art the rich artists get richer and the poor artists get poorer, creating anxiety.

The Marxist doctrine proposes that the government should dictate all works of art (for their own propaganda efforts) and the artists would all be poor, creating a non-anxious brotherhood.

If I win I’ll forgo the first prize of a trip to Chernobyl, and settle for a weekend in West Covina.
