Appalled by Cruelty

Share

As would any other normal, emotionally stable, humane, law-abiding citizen, I was appalled . . . at reading “SPCA Strives to Combat Animal Sacrifices” (Times, May 4), which spoke of the satanic rituals in Griffith Park and of the horror of animal mutilation.

I am beside myself with shuddering horror at the thought of such vile and evil practices. God knows what those wretched creatures must have suffered! The perpetrators of such primitive expressions of evil must be found and punished and hopefully educated as to the gross wrong they do.

Is it a mere “misdemeanor” to “torture” an animal to death? An animal is not a piece of furniture, but a feeling creature who suffers pain as would we in such circumstances. I beg our Los Angeles Police Department, our humane societies and our legislators in city and county positions to pursue the perpetrators of this despicable practice, as its existence demeans all of us who deem ourselves moral and civilized.
