A woman lost her bid to head a Boy Scout troop when a judge in Milford, Conn., agreed with arguments from the organization that young boys need a male role model to help them “in the difficult process of maturing to adulthood.” Catherine Pollard, 67, who acted as head of a troop for 16 months because no man had volunteered for the job, said she would appeal. “I’m not going to let them get away with it,” she said. “We are going to take this to the state Supreme Court.”
