Libya Halts Teaching of English Language

TRIPOLI, Libya —
The teaching of the English language at “all educational stages” has been halted in Libya, the official Jana news agency reported Thursday.
Russian is being taught instead, the dispatch said. It gave no other details.
Libya’s official language is Arabic, and it has long banned English and other foreign languages from public signs.
