Where Were Reggie, Wally and the Rest?

Share

I recently attended Little League Night at Anaheim Stadium in which the Angels hosted an estimated 13,000 kids and their coaches. Before the game, the kids were allowed to parade around the field and walk by each dugout. A number of players from the Milwaukee Brewers’ dugout extended handshakes to the kids. To my total dismay, no Angel players could be seen in their dugout or anywhere.

Was this too much to handle, little fans looking for their heroes? Where was Reggie, Wally, Bobby and Dougie--in a pregame confab planning strategy? Hard to tell because Milwaukee had nine runs by the fifth inning.

What was the point? Why host such an event and turn your back on your fans? Oh, Gene, how about dinner next Sunday? Let yourself in, I’ll be at the Dodger game.
