Redondo Beach : TV Will Monitor Prisoners
The City Council has authorized the purchase of a closed-circuit television system to monitor the activities of prisoners held in the Police Department jail. The cameras, which will be viewed at a central location by jail workers, are intended to deter property damage and prevent inmates from harming themselves or others, a report from the city manager’s office said. About $30,000 in this year’s city budget has been allocated for the purchase. The city will accept bids on the proposed system and award the contract to the lowest bidder.
