Synagogue to Be Rebuilt

EAST BERLIN —
Berlin’s New Synagogue, once a centerpiece of German Jewish life, will be restored by the 50th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the November, 1938, night of Nazi persecution that signaled the beginning of the German Jewish community’s destruction. Chief architect Roland Korn was quoted as saying that the Moorish-style synagogue, now a ruin, will be fully rebuilt for the 50th anniversary of Kristallnacht (the Night of Broken Glass).
